In early 2017, Crawford Doyle Booksellers closed the doors of the popular bookshop on 81st Street and Madison Avenue and took on a new mission. Located nine blocks from the original store, reimagined as a library and is now open to the public at 21East 90th Street. Visits can be made by appointment by calling (212) 289-2345 or email [CDRarebooks@gmail.com]
Here customers can browse or chat with the owner, John Doyle, or other visitors about their favorite authors and titles.
Crawford Doyle shares ideas and recommendations for rare and unusual books for our customers through various means - in our library, available for browsing and discussions, through internet listings on various websites, and through e-Mail catalogs issued to interested parties periodically. Custom searches for requested books are also conducted at customer's requests.
Current highspots are featured on this site in the accompanying section, which also features recommendations from previous catalogs issues recently. Some of our favorite books are featured here, together with our explanation of why they deserve your attention.
We specialize in first editions of great literary works, primarily postwar American and British fiction. You can click here to search our inventory. Books listed can be purchased online (through AbeBooks) or simply by calling in or emailing us.
We are also happy to search for any out-of-print books that you are seeking. Successfully obtaining whatever book you may be looking for, no matter how rare, is always our goal.
